I gained 60 pounds, is it possible to get my body back to what it used to be before the weight gain?
I feel like my body is ruined forever now that I have gained 60 pounds. Is it realistic to think that with hard work and eating right I can get my body back to the way it was? What type of exercise routine should I use? Is working out 5 days a week for 30 minutes a day enough? I want to try and lose the weight in 6 months. Is this possible? Is this healthy?
The younger you are, the more possible it will be to return to a close approximation of your former body. However, your skin has stretched to accommodate the added weight so expect stretch marks and less firmness. Still, it's very admirable to want to shed the excess weight and to do it through sensible exercise and diet.
I once had to eliminate a lot of foods from my diet for allergies and was thus able to lose 30 lbs over the span of 15 months. By avoiding dairy (milk, butter, cheese and all sorts of base products like lecithin, lactate, etc) and eggs, and doing yoga twice a week (90 mins each time) and walking 2-3 times weekly (45 mins, 4 miles) I was able to lose the weight and firm up. However, I never expected to return to my exact former shape or condition.
Good luck. A calm approach will serve you well. I threw out a lot of junk food and stocked the kitchen and pantry with healthy alternatives--an expensive outlay that paid off.
