Would it be a good idea to get a neck massage if?
I graduated from high school this year and I was on the wrestling team and I placed 2end in a California yearly tournament in my weight class. However, wrestling has really took a toll on my neck and its been a month since I wrestled and my neck is still stiff like hell. Have any of you guys ever gotten a neck massage? If so how did it feel after?? Was it worth it?
Check with your doctor to make sure you don't have any injuries that would contraindicate massage, but after that, massage is very beneficial for neck pain. A good massage therapist will help you break up adhesions and will stimulate circulation in the area, which will assist in healing. Make sure you communicate with your massage therapist about your personal goals for massage (work out tenderness, work out knots, promote circulation, relaxation, work out stiffness...). Some techniques can be done, but at the expense of others.
For example, if your therapist works out knots, you may be tender afterward, but you'll find your muscles less stiff overall, and you'll have more localized tenderness. It depends on your level of comfort.
